The pipeline was 850 metres in length, with an internal diameter of 2.6 m and an external one of 3.2 m. The reinforced concrete walls were 30 cm thick. Demolishing 430 metres of pipeline took an Indeco IFP 1000 six weeks in 12-hour shifts. The IFP 1000 is mounted on a Fiat Hitachi 200, used by operators with over 20 years’ excavation experience.

The images show the various phases of the job, from pulverising the layer of reinforced concrete to the situation after the demolition had been completed. In the last photo Pietro Gismondi, head of MIC, who directed the demolition.
