A MULTI 850 knocks down two 26-metre high silos

Knocking down these two silos was a highly complex operation, both because the very hard building material (high resistance reinforced concrete containing large quantities of steel rods) was so difficult to demolish, and because of the position of the silos.

One of these was located adjacent to an electricity substation and an air pipeline, both fully functioning and serving the cement works main building, all of which made the demolition job rather problematic.

The primary demolition of a height of over 26 metres per silo was carried out with a Hitachi 400 excavator with a demolition boom over 27 metres long, mounted with an Indeco Multi 850, which ensured speedy movement of the jaws, excellent visibility for the operator and top-quality crushing, even at the tips.

There was so much concrete and it was so hard, that an Indeco HP 2500 breaker was brought in to help reduce the primary blocks.
